Set a margin floor before you reprice
How to work out the lowest safe price for each SKU, so automatic repricing never sells at a loss.
Automatic repricing is only safe when every SKU has a price it cannot go below. Work that floor out first, then let the rules compete above it.
Work out the floor
Start from the landed cost of the unit. Add marketplace fees, fulfilment, payment and currency conversion, then the minimum margin you will accept. The result is the floor for that SKU in that market.
Recalculate the floor when a cost changes, not only when a price looks wrong. A freight or fee change can move it without anyone noticing.
Compete above it
Use buy-box position and the direction and speed of competitor price changes to decide when to move. A competitor dropping fast is a different case from one drifting slowly.
Check the floor before publishing any price. If the rules would cross it, hold the current price and flag the SKU.
Keep a person on the exceptions
Conflicting rules and unusual competitor moves go to a review list. A short list each morning is easier to act on than a full report.
The repricing case study on this site shows the same structure running daily.
