How it works
- Shopify bills in US dollars and adds 15% VAT for South African stores. Set the exchange rate to today's.
- Shopify Payments is not available in South Africa, so every order runs through a third-party gateway and Shopify charges its third-party fee: 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow and 0.6% on Advanced.
- Gateway rates are for local cards and exclude VAT. Yoco's rate is for under R100,000 a month in card sales, and some providers lower rates with volume, so check your own agreement.
- Shopify Plus starts at US$2,300 a month and charges 0.2% on third-party payments.
- Not included: themes, domains, email, shipping, payouts, refunds and chargebacks.
