How it works

  • Prices include VAT. Takealot charges its success fee on the VAT-inclusive price. Amazon.co.za charges its referral fee on the price excluding VAT. Both add 15% VAT to every fee.
  • If you are VAT registered, you pay VAT on the price and claim back the VAT on fees, so enter your product, shipping and ad costs without the VAT you claim back. If you are not, enter what you pay, and the VAT on fees is a cost to you.
  • Takealot shows your category's success fee and fulfilment fee in its Seller Portal. The defaults here are examples, so enter your own.
  • Until 31 March 2027, Amazon.co.za charges a 5% referral fee in every category with no minimum, waives FBA pick and pack fees and charges R1 a month for the Professional plan. From 1 April 2027 the calculator uses the category rate with a R10 minimum, the FBA fee for the weight band and whichever plan costs less for your units: Individual at R10 an item or Professional at R400 a month.
  • Jewellery priced up to R950 pays 18% and above R950 pays 10%. Watches priced up to R2,450 pay 18% and above R2,450 pay 10%. Both use the price excluding VAT.
  • Not included: storage, returns and refunds. Takealot charges storage only on overstocked units, and Amazon waives FBA storage until 31 March 2027.
  • Fees checked on 19 October 2026 on takealot.com/sell and Amazon.co.za Seller Central.
